Crowded Ducks

Here's a quick qouache painting I did in my sketchbook, in the spirit of duck hunting and all.

Bird Chillin' in a Sketchbook

So here's something new I've been trying out lately. Layering some cool watercolor/acrylic washes and doing a pen and ink drawing on top of them. The texture on the washes is actually little bits of bath salt I put on the paper when the color was drying, and it came out pretty cool I thought. More to come soon on this front.

Sketchbook Bear

More experimenting with watercolors, acrylic paint, and pen and ink, mixed with some weird textures and all that good stuff.

I've Got My Stunnas On

Just a little random I did while bored out of my mind the other day in class.

Gouache Resist Bunny

So this is a Gouache Resist I did a little while ago. Basically what that means is you paint the picture you want, then cover the entire piece in India Ink, and let it dry. You then run the entire thing under water, and the ink is repelled from the gouache paint. So anything not painted (meaning any paper showing) is going to turn black, and you get some cool dropout effects with the ink, as shown.

Also, I've been really into these carnivorous rabbits lately, I don't know why, but they're fun.

Ghost-Tiger Fish

I had this weird idea in class the other day when my students were taking a quiz about camouflage ghost animals. So I sort of just took this tiger fish and made its stripes camo-colored, and purposely disregarded the outline to give it a sort of ghostly look. I wanted the stripes to make up the outline of the fish, and it came out pretty sweet I thought.

It's so furry I'm gonna die!

Another sketch I did because I haven't drawn in ages.

Froggin' It

A quick Pen & Ink drawing I did up on an off period while I was teaching last week. It's a frog on a crazy tree.

They call me Porterhouse

A quickie watercolor I did in-between teaching, this is part of my "Weird Rabbits" series I just do to mess around with. He's all over that T-bone steak right now.

Bunny Sketch

Just a quick sketch of a random Rabbit. Again, children's book potential.

CamoShark

I haven't posted in a while. Like, 2 years. So here is a little doodle I drew up in-between teaching a few 8th grade Art classes, probably a preliminary stage of another children's book character. It's a camouflage shark, because that's how he rolls.
